reefskunk
Maybe it was just coincidence, but my hairy mushrooms (which have grown to a diameter of about 4 inches!) this morning had a hermit with its legs poking out and the mushroom closed in a bubble shape as to envelop it within. When i took the hermit out, the shell was gone, but the body had been chewed off. I know the shroom didnt eat the shell, but would it feed off the meat of the hermits body? a confused reefer -a Link to comment

Paul G
Possible I guess, I had a hermit once that had got so old or weak that it couldn't carry it's shell anymore and got eaten by an anemone:( Also not sure how strong a sting a hairy mushroom can give, perhaps it ate it & discarded the shell Or maybe it was just the carcass left from a moult Link to comment
Drysocket
I vote for the molt idea. When my hermits molt, it looks just like a dead hermit. It probably just happened to land on the mushroom. I've got a 3 inch hairy mushroom and I've never had any problem with it hurting any of my other critters. Link to comment
