Is this hetmit reef safe?
If it is more red than I can see there, I am betting it is a Scarlet. How big is it?
It is 1 inch. I was wondering if is a scarlet but it is not red enough lol.
Best guess is calcinus tibicen aka "orange claw" hermit. Generally a good all-around eater of both algae and crud.
Of the two I've had in the last 2 years, one got 0wned by a zebra hermit (and was a model citizen up until getting so 0wned) and one was Screaming Snail Death on Legs. But yes, it's pretty reef-safe - neither one ever bothered any corals, fish or shrimp/other crabs.
I am thinking to bring it bak to the LFS and get a blue leg bak.
