dottybackss Posted April 29, 2014 Share Posted April 29, 2014 Some of my plant in my refugium start to turn yellow and dying after I put a bag of carbon for my tank. Dose anyone know what's goin on with them? Plants in the pictures are before they gone bad. I dont know what kind of plant is this. Link to comment
Subsea Posted April 29, 2014 Share Posted April 29, 2014 It looks like a fast growing Caulerpa, maybe C. Prolifera. It is not a plant, but a macro algae. True marine plants absorb nutrients thru their roots. Macro algae absorb nutrients thru the surface on their foliage. All macro absorb calcium, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphate, sulphur and iron. When green macro slows its growth rate and begins to show yellow, consider iron deficiency and dose with iron. The acivated carbon should not effect the grow rate of macro. Patrick Link to comment
