littlereefer_1
Hi guys, I just started up a 10 nano reef tank. I have seen some posts about refugiums. What are they, and what are the benefits of having one??? Are they necessary to stablize the tank??? I appreciate your insights Link to comment
Kool-cat
They are not necessary. If you want you can build a cheap one for a 10 gallon tank put of an aquaclear hang on back power filter. They grow pods and stuff. Extra food for fish and macro algae to control algae in the main tank. Link to comment
littlereefer_1
So a refugium is like running another tank or filter without the filter media. You put sand or aragonite at the bottom of it and live rock. Over time, good bacteria will grow in this box??? And it will be beneficial to the tank when it is pumped back in?? Link to comment
