myfisharemean
I'm looking to replace the cheapo flourescent lights on my 10g hex, and have found a double-14watt (28 total) PC fixture for $48, wich has two 10,000K PC's, and the Coralife mini aqualite for $35, which has a 9watt actinic, and a 9 watt 10,000K. Should I get the more powerful one, and replace one with a actinic, or get the cheaper one? Or get a different light totally? I'm looking to spend around $50. Thanks a lot -Matt Link to comment
kraphtymac
You'll probably want more power than that if you ever want to keep anything decent. Go for 48 watts. Check out the foster and smith fixtures. Link to comment
myfisharemean
My lfs, who supposedly specialize, said the aqualite mini would be fine, should i go for 5 watts a gallon? Link to comment
jimbro
i've used the aqualite mini's on a ten (four 9 w bulbs on a standard 10 gal) and felt the tank was pretty light-starved. couldn't keep anything but shrooms at the bottom. i've since moved the contents of the 10 gal to a 20 long, and now use the two minis on a 5 gal. i would def go for more wattage. just my opinion.
