slickchick
Please help this newbie with her lighting I am in the planning phase right now...I want an 80 gal reef tank. I currently have 2 nano-reef tanks and the reef bug bit HARD and I decided I need a bigger tank...80 gal is still a nano, right? I have the opportunity to buy a JBJ pc light setup brand new for 50% off and I want to know if it junk or if it is a good deal. Here is the info: 48" FORMOSA DX (65W*4) (2) 10K DAYLIGHT/(2) 7100K BLUE 260 WATTS 48" x 9" x 3.2" has built in fans. http://www.jbjlighting.com/sys_formosa_dx.html Are these good lights? The LFS wants $190. Should I grab them? Link to comment
chieferich
i think that is a good price.... but, i suggest not making the same mistake i did getting pc lighting for a larger tank. for that price, you could get a 175w maybe 250w metal halide setup, and get a lot more light. an 80 has a lot of depth....not sure pc's can "hit" that far down. Tempest
I agree with chieferich. That wouldn't be enough light for a tank that size. You'd be better off with MH. Link to comment
