bowfront26
I am fairly new to reefing but feel pretty confident I know what I am doing. I wanted to know how difficult it is to keep SPS? Which ones are suitable for beginners? 26 gallon with 130 W PC 2 percs. bi-color pseudo green chromis fire fish Rose BTA mushrooms zoo's feather duster open brain ph. 8.3 going to get calc and alk. tested tomorrow Link to comment
mlaw
i would really buy metal halide before keeping sps, some sps can be kept with pc lighting but being kept and to thrive are two totally differnt things Link to comment
ReeferMonkey
With only 130w PC on a 26, the best bet would be an orange or green montipora digitata at the top of the tank. Generally, montiporas are much more forgiving of low lighting and don't require as much flow as your acroporas and the like. I had a brown digi that thrived under the 32w PC in my MB7. MidiMouse
I'd have to agree with ReeferMonkey. You can definately keep SPS with that setup. Just put it up near the top. On my 5g with 49w PC, I have orange digi and green digi which keep their color. Pink bird's nest and purple digi that turned brown. All 4 grew, but definately slower than it would under MH.
