how do I wire my fan

I have scavenged a CPU fan and want to wire it into my light fixture.

 

Can I just wire it right into the lighting wiring? It is a small fan with two wire coming out of it. One is red and the other is black.

 

I don't want to end up with a fire when I wire this thing it wrong:o . Thanks

ok,

First how many amps do you need to power the little guy? Should say something like .016A or 160mah Anyways goto the local thrift stor or maybe you have a wall wort. Those are the power inverters that you use on you cordless phone or a PSX or Nintendo pr Xbox, etcetcetc. Then e-mail and I will show later.. NO I will get my cheapo digi camera and take a pic or two as long as there not fuzzy I will post them.

Shows wall wort and the wires to the fan and the WW are stripped.

this pic you can see the HEAT SHRINK TUBING place over the wire first

 

and notice that the two wires are now soldered (you can barrel connect)

and finally you see the heat shrink tube pulled ofer the splice and heated to give a water resistant jacket.

the cool thing about wiring up these fans is that dosn't matter wich way you connect them UNTIL it is mounted. I had already checked which way the fan was rotating. Now if you want to get really anal I could show you how to open the case and find which wire is positive from the WW and that gets even more boring than my typing here :woot: So if any ?'''' post away
