VABumpkin
Thanks very much for that, what features point you towards identifying it as S. mertensii? I've never seen one before. Looks like I will be needing a much larger tank than I was planning. I've also been thinking of getting a nano box light for this tank, would the mini be the correct size? The white tips and length of the tentacles mainly. Yes, the mini would be a good light for this tank. Link to comment
Matt_95
Sorry for the lack of updates on this! I got a new job and I've been working very long hours so my tank has been a bit neglected, I got rid of them carpet nems because I didn't want to kill them. I didn't do many water changes maybe 2 over three months and surprisingly everything didn't do to badly, the sand bed is very dirty though so I am taking it out, just this week I've added a bunch of shrooms and a maxi mini, I'll try get some pictures soon. I also want to start planning an upgrade, I want a slightly deeper tank and a fuge. I also want to get a coral croucher. Link to comment
Matt_95
Finally got around to taking some photos of this tank. It's now been set up for over a year, a few weeks ago I moved the entire set up into a slightly larger tank as I wanted a clear back ground. The new tank is around 7 gallons now. I am going to start a new thread soon in the members section as it's no longer a pico tank. I got myself a new pair of black ice clowns on the weekend while I was on holiday, they're beautiful and they look fantastic. They won't be in this tank long term. I have a new tank I am currently planning to set up. I want to remove a lot of the smaller frags from this tank and either let a few of the smaller frags grow into smaller colonies or get a few really nice pieces. I'd prefer to have a smaller number of larger higher quality corals. Matt_95
Looking good. That zoa colony is really growing out Thank you! That's actually a new colony I bought this past weekend. I do have a much smaller colony that's similar higher up, but those polyps have an orange skirt and the polyps are much smaller. Link to comment
Matt_95
Some new additions. Not staying in this set up forever, just trying to recover gem from bleaching. They're recovering very well. The small one is the smallest I've ever seen, a bit less than 5cm. The tiny green one was originally a bright orange. Not very happy it's gone green. It's a periclimenes, not sure on the specific species, there's a fair few. I caught the cowries myself in a lagoon near my house, I have three in this tank. Just read this whole thread. Darn it! I'm supposed to be working. Great read, m8. Thanks very much, I'm upgrading this tank to a knock off 45P soon so I'll post the link for that up soon. Link to comment
