Mangroves and mud

If adding mangroves into the system is more mud required than sand? I was planning on getting premium aquatics crude which is essentially mud (http://premiumaquatics.com/aquatic-supplies/L-CRUDE.html) but should it be maybe half mud and half sand? The maximum sand depth will be 4 inches so I would need about 30 lbs of sand for my system.

I know several people who don't use mud and have had good luck. A lot of people just float them helps keep the roots under control.

Mine grow in mud, sand, and completely bare root without and issues.
