msscha
Hi All. This mystery red bubble thing began growing in my tank a few weeks ago. There are two of them; at first I thought it was red grape caulerpa as I'd had that in the tank before, but this had not taken on the grape cluster look at all. Is this just a different kind of bubble algae? I macro I should be treasuring? Something I should get the heck out of my tank right now? Thank you for your help! Link to comment
johnmaloney
Botryocladia, red bubble algae. COnsidered a bad guy when they are short, have one bubble from the holdfast and spread, so I would remove it, but that species doesn't spread as fast as other members of the Botryocladia family. Thank you, John. It looks exactly like you've described (the holdfast is particularly evident today) so I will remove it during today's scheduled water change. I very much appreciate the help.
