what's up with those eyes?

my ruby mithrax crabs eyes are poking out - is that normal? my emerald doesn't have eyes like this... or at least - not that I've seen. the ruby just kinda hids all the time and ... uhm ... well, he likes to hide.

 

Ok - it's a terrible picture - but if you can see the little patch of red with the white line running the center of it? That's my ruby - and that's his fricken eye!!! Is that normal? For the thread... both of his eyes are popped out like Mr. Crabs.
