BadCrab
I don't know a thing about photography, but my boyfriend has a D7000 with a kit lens and I'd like to surprise him with a set of extension tubes so he could get better shots of my tanks. I did a quick search for Nikon extension tubes and there are so many from manufacturers I've never heard of. Can someone do me a favor and give me the top couple of sets of tubes and the advantages/disadvantages of one set over another? A little lost Link to comment
Ebn
Pick up a set of Kenko extension tubes if you're looking for a set. You'll retain the metering with the contacts. Like most metering lens you'll lose some light so he'll have to step the lens down, but that's not really a big deal since it's used for macros (unless you can't bump the ISO any higher or if you're already stopped down). Old picture, but here's all three Kenko tubes with the 105mm VR. Up close any personal with a tiny fly (2 tubes were used IIRC) Shooting for Reef Nutrition Link to comment
BadCrab
Pick up a set of Kenko extension tubes if you're looking for a set. Thanks for the recommendation (and great shots!); just to be clear, this is the Kenko set you're referring to right? I don't want to buy the wrong one Link to comment
Ebn
Yep, those are the ones. If you're in no rush, i.e. don't need it within a couple of days with Prime, you can find them cheaper on eBay. Link to comment
BadCrab
Thanks heaps, wanted them tomorrow (his birthday was last week lol) so I paid full price plus 4 bucks shipping. I'm sure he will be very happy. Cheers Link to comment
Ebn
I'm sure he's gonna appreciate that. On a plus side, you'll get some better macros shots of your tanks. Sounds like a win win situation. Link to comment
