Lalani
Do any of you guys with DSLRs run Magic Lantern? If so, how useful is it? Link to comment
Veng
I haven't done it yet. It's on my list of things to try. One of the big bonuses is back button focus. Link to comment
Lalani
You don't need magic lantern for the back focus button: http://improvephotography.com/4552/back-button-focusing/ Link to comment
Christopher Marks
My friend uses it on his 5D MKII to improve it's video capabilities. I don't think it offers very many improvements outside of video. It should be harmless to use though, if you were thinking of trying it out. As I understand it's completely reversible. Link to comment
Lalani
Well, I guess I'll be the guinea pig. And ya, it runs as an add-on firmware, leaving canon's firmware in place. Can't wait to try the motion detection trigger and intervalometer! Link to comment
Lalani
I've only played with it for 5 minutes but its definitely useful! Motion detect, intervalometer, zebras (shows you over/underexposed areas in LV), stack focusing, and more... zomg. Link to comment
Christopher Marks
Sounds awesome, I should give it a try too! Does your version offer focus peaking? That could be very handy. Link to comment
Lalani
It sure does. Took all of maybe 2 minutes... including updating Canon's fw, formatting the card, and transferring and installing magic lantern! After I finish with final exams tomorrow I'll be playing with the new features. Link to comment
