jacquot385
I have started noticing something unusual. My small perc clown has started looking white-ish at night time around his mouth and gills. I just started noticing it. I'm not sure if he has always done this or not. Is something wrong with him or is he just doing this because he is resting? An answer would be appreciated because I haven't had a good night sleep since this started happening. He's my baby (yeah yeah....I'm a wierdo) Link to comment

Sushi
hi, i'm not sure if this applies for SW fish but at night, all my FW fish lose their colors to some extent. (for example, my Neon Tetras would sometimes turn so pale to the point where there was no "shimmer" to their body at all). i think it's some sort of defense mechanism, since fish do sleep, and when they do, it's not the smartest idea to look BRIGHT orange for the nocturnal predators to feast on. so i think there's nothing wrong with him turning pale, i would worry if he actually has something growing there around his mouth & gills, if not, it shouldn't be a big problem... pyrrhus
marine fish are well known for changing color for many reasons. i wouldnt worry about it unless his breathing is labored or some other sign or symptom shows up. just in case though id do a full parameter check on your water. Link to comment
