In November, I turned my south exterior porch into a mariculture facility. I double wrapped my screen porch with 6 mil plastic. Existing permanent system includes three 100G Rubbermaid tanks buried in the ground and one 75G aquarium that receives direct sunlight for 3 hours and indirect sunlight for the rest of the day. To this system, I added four 150G Rubbermaid tanks. Each two 150G tubs have 1000W of MH at 6500 kelvin horticulture bulbs. During winter operations, the MH provide required heating. There is so much light spillover, that I decided to grow tomatoes with a volunteer coming up in a planter. Under this much light, the plant drinks three gallons of water a day.

Neat! What are you mariculturing on your porch? What's in the black rubbermaid containers in the photos?

I currently have 1000 lbs of diver collected live rock from the Gulf of Mexico: 600 lbs have gone thru 60 day quarantine with the other 400 lbs available for sale in 30 days. You can view individual rock at my website, Aquaculture Ranch.

Also in 30 days, I will be bringing summer operations on line with a 5K gallon tank under a greenhouse.
