How is this camera/lens?

I'd suggest either canon or nikon. These will drastically increase your options when looking for used gear. As for the macro, The 50mm probably wont give you the shot's you want in a reef tank unless the subject is only an inch or two from the glass. For not much more you can get a 100mm canon macro.

Pentax makes some quality cameras, but I agree, you will find much more gear that supports Canon and Nikon.

 

I use a 60mm Tamron f/2.0 for macro in my reef, and it does well. Unless your tank is a cube or something, chances are it is sufficient to get full frame shots of just about anything in the tank.
