For those who make their own Phyto cultures...

I wanted to create some phyto cultures for a 24/7 drip system in the future. I am having a hard time deciding if it would be better to use dried phyto vs. live. I know this might seem like a no brainer but in terms of money a dry system seems like it would be better at times and it wouldn't crash. For the dry system I would use powdered forms like Phytoplan and mix it with other coral food additives like marine snow. This concoction would be thoroughly mixed together and fed to mainly soft corals.

Though the dry system seems cheaper the live system has the benefit of being fresh. I would simply worry about crashes.
So for those who do make their own live cultures do you think the benefits of the live cultures should overcome the dry concontion in terms of coral growth and health. What type of starting culture do you use? Would items such as Phyto pure or Vpure work as a starting culture? How do you stop the cultures from crashing?
