banshee
Man! That plate is hawt! I saw one just like it but balked at the price tag. I'm regretting not grabbing it now though. Nice setup! Link to comment
fewskillz
The plate wasn't cheap, but totally worth it. I can't tell if it's happy or not. I'll give it a few days and move it if I don't see the polyp extension I saw in the store. I hope I can keep it in this tank, if not it will be sweet in the 93 cube I'm working on. The red UFOs are finally opening, they're at the top of the big rock next to the digi. The guy at the fish store said the mother colony is picky too and the guy who bought the sister frag to mine's is being finicky as well. It hasn't receded any, so hopefully it'll flourish up high. fewskillz
Total tanks? This morning I was at 21, but I sold my shallow 80 and a 30 long sump this evening, so we're back to 19. The 75 cichlid tank will be gone soon, too. Link to comment
fewskillz
Apparently the Red UFOs just wanted some light... The plate is happier, too: Two mouths already! Link to comment
got2envy
Looks great skillzy! How you liking the DF&S filter? Hide the heater in the HOB Link to comment
fewskillz
Looks great skillzy! How you liking the DF&S filter? Hide the heater in the HOB I really like the filter, enough that I took out the Tunze. I plan to hide the heater, just haven't drug out the dremel to make a slot for the cord. I'm glad my corals are settling in. Now to get the temporary stuff out of there... Link to comment
fewskillz
Just bought a Nano Osmolator. This is quickly shaping up to the be the nicest tank I've ever owned. It's definitely the first SW tank I've ever bought all new equipment for. Going to try some Chemi-Pure Elite, too, just to be safe. Yay for new stuff. Link to comment
fewskillz
My NatuReef Reef Former powder is here. If it's good enough for got2envy's tanks, it's good enough for mine! Link to comment
fewskillz
The osmolator isn't going to work, the mount is too big. It would have the water level a half inch below the trim. Oh well, I'll figure something out, and use the tunze on my next build with a sump. Finally moved all of the corals off the bottom to the 180 and moved the heater into the filter. I also added Chemipure Elite. I'm thinking about a switch to Reef Crystals, too. Everything seems to be doing well, hopefully these changes will make them do even better. Link to comment
debbeach13
I went BB too! I painted the bottom of my 15g the same Did you both paint the inside of the tank? Link to comment
fewskillz
Outside. That pic of the spray can is sitting on the upside down tank. Link to comment
fewskillz
Drug out the P&S last night. Was still lazy and didn't really clean the glass or turn off the filter, but they're better than cell phone shots. Link to comment
BeardedReeferLLC
Looking good man. Nice plate with sharp colors. Link to comment
fewskillz
I added a turbo snail and a scarlet reef hermit to the tank last night. The damsel DOES NOT LIKE the hermit. He keeps attacking it and flipping the shell and pushing it to the corner and stuff. It's pretty funny actually. If he's still doing it tonight I guess I'll put the crab in a different tank. fewskillz
I'm starting to get some film algae, so I'm going to try doing water changes more often, or at a minimum double up the volume of my current WCs. I've got some PhosBan I could put in the HOB, but I would think the CPE that's in there is enough to take care of any phosphate problems. Link to comment
Wiilio
I love the damsel/shrimp combo you have going on! Perhaps you could add one of these: Following along! Best of luck to you Link to comment
fewskillz
I added a cool little sorta-mis-barred Percula clown to this tank Monday night. I really like the movement that a second fish brings to the tank. The damsel wasn't being as mean as I was expecting, either. Then I found the new clown on the floor on Tuesday morning. SerenityReef
Thanks! Going bare bottom, for now at least. I can always add sand later. So looks like you sprayed the bottom of your tank! Awesome idea! Link to comment
fewskillz
Plate coral eating some PE Mysis: http://s57.photobucket.com/user/fewskillz/media/10%20gallon%20Nano%20Reef/IMG_20130602_212827_zps7a7b5073.jpg.html'> Link to comment
fewskillz
Thanks. It was fun watching it move the shrimp from its outer edge all the way to its mouth. Link to comment
fewskillz
So my light fixture's legs aren't wide enough to sit on the rim of a standard 10 gallon. So I wasn't using the legs and just had the light resting directly on the glass-lid. As you can imagine that caused some heat issues that forced me to lay a desk fan directly on the tank and have it plugged into the same timer as the lights. That quickly became an eye sore, so I downgraded a 16" 5.5 gallon where the light's legs fit. That combined with the now open-top means my temp problem is now mild enough to ignore. The 5.5 is bare bottom and painted just like the 10 was. I switched to my smaller Foster&Smith HOB filter and pulled the big zoa rock, but other than that, nothing has changed. The tank is doing well and the zoas are kicking @$$ in the 180. I'll be fragging them soon and moving some back to the nano. http://s57.photobucket.com/user/fewskillz/media/10%20gallon%20Nano%20Reef/IMG_20130720_222636_zpsc3a5f689.jpg.html'> Link to comment
Lalani
Ah, very nice little tank. I like the white bottom, should be easier to keep clean compared to sand! Link to comment
DRLOVEtoreef
that is an awesome plate! Link to comment
