Treevore
I am having a dilemma. I am going to set up a 10 gallon SPS and ricordea nano this summer. I have two choices for lighting: 1) Spend $100 on a 70 watt DE MH setup, plus $20 for a 36 watt actinic bulb to put into a prebuilt $30 AHSupply hood which would be hung as a pendant from the ceiling (I already have the ballast and reflector for the PC). 2) Spend $45 on a powerquad bulb, $30 on the AHSupply canopy (again, hung from ceiling, and again, I have a ballast that will run 96 watts), and $20 on the new reflector. So, for the metal halide with a total of $150 I could have 106 watts, 70 of which are metal halide. Or, for the PC, I could have 96 watts for $95. I can afford the $150, but I would rather pay less. Remember, I want to keep acros, montis, and ricordea happily. What do you think? Thanks for reading all this Link to comment
coral reef
i am sure you already know the ansewer and its mh all the way Link to comment
Treevore
Yes... I did figure that. But I want to make sure to get plenty of opinions because, after all, $55 is a big difference for only 18 watts. Link to comment
KrackerG
IMO, run both! I run a 70w MH and 2 40w PC actinics on my 10g Link to comment
