70w or 150w over a standard 10?

Im in a dilema, Im currently building a 10gallon setup that will contain a clam or two and some sps. Having a hard time deciding between the 70w MH DE or the 150w MH DE. Anyone with a standard 10 gallon setup and a 70w or 150w MH want to share their experiences?

The MH is going to go into a canopy, almost exactly like this one:

(you can see a pic of it at the end of thread)

and Im going to install a 80mm fan on each side of the canopy that push 28 CFM each:

Would the 150w be too close to the water with this setup, and would it produce too much heat? How would the corals do with a 150w MH in such a small tank?

If its going in a canopy I'd say definitely the 70 watt. My 150 over an open top 15 tall with 15 sump gets my tank hot.

150. unless.. you can' t cool it.

though for 150 over a 10

you need central air, or something like that.

and you will probably need a big fan 84.1 CFM !!!!!! a little more white noise than normal.. but well worth it.. liek in computers, low noise and coolness do not go together- unless you get a liquid cooling system... which is doable for a halide hood.. not seen it done before..

Since you are a GD.com I would go with the 150W IMO. Use a BMB fan from GD.com and it will cool it down REAL GOOD. You might want to overclock your light too it will give you more FPS!;)

Ive decided on the 70w, I figure i can add a few PC's in there if needed, and if i decide to throw a few softies in there, they won't melt!
