joeyhatch11
I would like to know if this camera is really worth getting? Here's a link for some more specs. http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-E-PL1-Interc...s=olympus+epl-1 It's a 12.3MP with a 14-42MM lens. My work has one on display that there selling and I have the chance to get it for $40!!!! Here's how thats possible. Someone recently bought me a camera from my store but I'm not a big fan of it at all. So I was going to use that money along with my super saver discount and just pay the difference. This is my first "real" camera that'll allow me to swap out lens and also allow me to get some better pics of my tanks. Will the 14-42MM lens be good enough and give me a solid starting point or should I be looking for something better? Keep in mind that I'm going into this camera swap with little money and thus the reason I'm going for a $300 camera vs. a $600+ one. Thoughts? Link to comment
joeyhatch11
After reading some more reviews, some have said that this camera doesnt do a good job at taking marco shots and that's going to be a problem. Can someone recommend a good camera for this please? Link to comment
thirdchild
After reading some more reviews, some have said that this camera doesnt do a good job at taking marco shots and that's going to be a problem. Can someone recommend a good camera for this please? Well I have a Olympus EPL-2. Went with the Micro 4/3rds because I wanted something less bulky than a Canon DSLR It does an ok job with the macro converter and stock 14-42 lens. But I really want to try buying an adapter and try old olympus macro lens for like $50 to see what happens This was when I started using it http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...t&p=3350756 And this is when I started using the macro converter http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?...t&p=3440881 This is still the road less traveled though Link to comment

joeyhatch11
Thanks for the replies guys. After talking with the store manager he was able to do an even swap from my old Coolpix S4300 to a Olympus SZ10. The marco settings on it are 10x better then the CoolPix and that's all I really care about. Its 14MP with 18x optical zoom. It also has a ton of settings that I'm going to play with this morning. I did read the beginners "how to shot your tank" thread on here and will be using that as a guide line, meaning the setting I should have the camera set to. Well see how that goes I can't wait. Thanks again for the replies. Any tips on features I could use and really benefit from would be great. Joe Link to comment
