Live rock.... now what

Well I added my 15 Lbs. of Cured Live Kaelini Rock 2 days ago. I just got a reading of around 1.0 for nitrite. How long does a tank usually take to cycle with cured live rock? Is there anything I should add to the tank to help the cycle? I'm not talking about adding any supplements. I want to start to see the life come out of the live rock. Should I add a raw shrimp or something like that?

Dont add anything. The rocks should be fully cured in three weeks max from start to finish. Just keep a check on the water parameters and carry out a water change if any of the readings get too high.

Else, providing the rocks were at the LFS in thier tanks for a few days at least, there wont be too much die off and the rocks will cure smoothly.

Good luck with the new tank, enjoy the interesting rock creatures.

Hey realhiphop, I didn't know your tank got set up!

How big is it, and what kinda lighting, etc do you have?

Congratulations on getting the live rock :) It's fun stuff
