Pods in filter sponge okay?

Are pods in the filter sponge okay to have? First pic shows them clearly, second pic you can see how many there are, 3rd pic shows where its all situated. There must be a couple hundred to a thousand in that sponge. My only concern is if I want to clean the sponge out, then how to do that without losing/killings tons of the pods.

Shake it before you pull it put of the water, you will kill some but some will fall off
