mnytoks Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 What does it mean when they say "food for filter feeders"? I would ask the guy at my LFS, but I already feel like he's bull####ting me. I have a 28G nanotube that's about 3 months old.
GaminKWB Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Filter feeders typically eat small pieces of food that you can't see. The food (like phytofeast) is plankton (among many other things) that disperses into the water column. The filter feeders eat it by filtering the food from the water. How many and what type of filter feeders you have will determine if you should be adding more to the water column. Anything not consumed will just add to your final nitrate numbers.
