Aqualifter pump height question

It says max height is 30". Does this mean that the max height it can push water up from the pump is 30"? Or does it mean from the water you're pulling from, to the top of the water you're pumping to that it will only do 30"?

 

I ask because my water reservoir is at the bottom of my stand, there is a shelf, and then tank at top. So if the pump is on the shelf, its about 12" above water reservoir, and almost exactly 30" below the tanks water line. Can't figure out if I hang the pump from the aquarium's edge and run the line all the way to the reservoir if this would be better.

not a problem for this pump can handle a little bit more than 30¨ i have 2 of these really nice dosing pump.

It's the height the pump can push the water from the pump upwards.
