Reef safe metal/paint/clear coat?

Hey, just wondering if there is a reef safe metal, paint, and clear coat available and if anyone knows about it.

I am creating a light fixture to hold my 24" Coralife PC over my 36" tank and thought metal would be a good idea because it is bendable and stronger than plastic.

 

Here's my idea. i will have clips either attached to the rim or just have it sit ontop of my glass top if its strong enough.
