Powerhead brand, flowrate, and positioning questions...

Alright, on my prospective 28 gallon reef I have decided to go with a CPR Bak-Pak skimmer (the one without the biobale).

In addition to the skimmer's flow how much more flow should I go for?

What brand do you reccomend?

Where should I place and point these things? It seems that most pictures I see show them at the top ... wouldn't this cause a slow down at the bottom (allowing more detrius to build up)?

Your help is appreciated!

Chromis, I have one 140gph penguin powerhead on my tank with an AC 300. Even though the powerhead is pointed up, the current is still good at the bottom. I had to turn down the AC 300 because it was digging a hole in my fine aragonite sand :) next time I am going with a rio-jet pump though, forget the penguin. I like the suction cups on the rios :)

Two Maxi-jet 600's should do fine on your sized tank. They are a little fast for my 24G tank. I positioned one directly at the water surface for maximum gaseous exchange due to surface agitation.

The other one points from the rear corner of the right hand side to the front corner of the left handside--creating an all round tank flow.
