pudge_167 Posted September 6, 2012 Share Posted September 6, 2012 Hey I got a question that I just thought of and need some help. I currently have a hang on filter on my 20 gallon extra high tank. I will be upgrading to a canister filter of some kind in next couple months. I am currently cycling my tank and it will be done before I add the filter. My question is will my new canister cause my tank to cycle again? I know that sounds stupid but i just want to make sure. Link to comment
seabass Posted September 6, 2012 Share Posted September 6, 2012 The only way you will have another ammonia spike is if the HOB filter has become your main biological filter (which isn't normally the case); but with biological media (bio-wheels, rings...), it could happen. If you are concerned about it, move some of the media to the canister filter. Link to comment
