partrobot Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Hi, have a couple of hard corals that I'm trying to identify. Tried asking the LFS where I got them but they didn't know. The second one has bleached a bit but seems to have stabilized. Want to find out what that one is in particular so I can better take care of it. Thanks!
fretfreak13 Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 The first one I believe is a chalice (and a very pretty one!), but I'm not sure on the second. Let someone else chime in, confirm that ID from me, and let you know about the other. lol
GokesReef Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Second looks like an angry hydnophora, maybe.
Bongo Shrimp Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 First one is undoubtedly a cyphastrea and second looks like a montipora with its polyps closed up.
partrobot Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Thanks everyone. Think bongo shrimp is right
altolamprologus Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Agreed with bongo. The monti is most likely an M. vietnamensis or at least a closely related species
