Chromis
Do I need some kind of converter to use a computer CPU fan on my eclipse? Can I just wire it up to a plug and plug it in? The fan says 12V... Any help? Link to comment
tinyreef
check radio shack or an equivalent should have little adapters (mini transformers) to step down the 110v to 12v. you'll have to strip the end wires though. i believe it's a direct splice but the diy forum will probably give you a better lead. reefskunk
i just took the old gamegear adapter, stripped the plug off, and used it because it carried the same rating....obviously you cant do that, but maybe a spark will go off in ur head. just trying to save money for more tanks lol Link to comment
Sahin
A DC voltage adapter is what you need. An adapter from a gamegear/megadrive/SNES may just work as well. You cant just hook it up and plug it into the mains. Will blow up/burn etc. Link to comment
anthony812
go any where and get one of those 5-6" clip on fans..its MUCH CHEAPER and EASIER!!! only $5-8 can get you one of those and they WILL keep your tank cool! messing around with a CPU fan is just too much trouble and will eventually cost you more..
