mohawk Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 IF you can get a hold of the manufacturer and get a copy of the bulbs spectrum curve that will tell you for sure., The Kelvin rating they give most bulbs is all marketing., The proper spectrum of light is more important than lighting intensity any day. Coral responds best in the lighting spectrum between 400 and 600NM., Cheap bulbs tend to produce more of a yellow which is not beneficial and can be harmful to your corals if its too intense. Manufacturers tend to lie about all kinds of things in this hobby. Obviously we don't know if those are the same bulbs, but they look awfully yellow in that pic. lol Link to comment
