Dazz78uk
Is it safe to break up live rock? I an wanting small bits but no one is willing to sell small bits of rock. Can I buy a bigger bit and break it up into smaller bits without doing it any harm? Link to comment
seabass
You sure can. A hammer and chisel work fine (use safety glasses). The rubble is good for coral fragments or to aquascape by epoxying them to a larger rock. However, I wouldn't use rubble in a filter. It tends to trap detritus and can cause problems. Live rock in the display should be adequate. Link to comment
GokesReef
Also, if you want to buy smaller bits, check out: http://www.saltwaterfish.com/Live-Rock-Sand_c_4.html They sell "nano" rock and LR rubble in a few varieties at a very fair price with free shipping. Link to comment
