Wizzy
I want to frag my zoanthids. What's the best after-frag dip for them/what concentration/how long? I have Coral RX on hand. I've heard Iodine is good, but don't know what brands I can use. Thoughts? ---- On a side note- If anyone wants to offer tips for fragging zoanthids please do so. Link to comment
altolamprologus
Coral Rx is fine. Same concentration as dipping a new frag, but for like half the duration. Tips on fragging zoas? Don't butcher them. Try to scrape up some of the rock under them to avoid as much damage as possible. That said, they can recover from being partially mutilated so don't worry too much if you mess them up. Thanks Alto ----- I was wondering how the actual dip is helping the corals. I think it's to help them heal more quickly, but how is the dip doing that? What chemicals in the dip are helping to heal the coral? Link to comment
eddiecorrea
Youtube it. There are plenty of good videos. I don't dip after fragging. I dunno I seem to have pretty good success not dipping. You could also dip in lugols I guess if you want too. Link to comment

Iodine (which is what I use to dip new frags) has antibiotic properties that help prevent infection. It's much the same as using antibiotic ointment and a bandaid on a cut. I'm not sure what coral rx uses, but the effect is still the same. Link to comment

Thanks for the explanation Alto, that helps ----- I will probably just use Coral RX since I have it already. If someone thinks there are better options, please chime in. Link to comment
Wizzy
I just wanted to let everyone know that I ended up using Coral RX. I made 3 frags as testers. (1) Four Polyp frag that is open and happy. (2) Single Polyp frags that still haven't opened, but look healthy. Link to comment
