I'm setting up my 20 gallon H tank and I am confused about what type of light to go with. I wouold like to have a a variety of LPS, softies and some leathers. I have been looking at the DIY kits which are great but I came across the AI nano WOW. I am also thinking about a Aqua Medic Metal Halide + T5 Ocean Light Fixture. Help me out what should I go with?

 

1- DYI kit.

2- AI Nano

3- Aqua Medic Metal Halide + T5 Ocean Light Fixture

If your just gonna do softies, ya don't need the MH's (or the new bulbs to replace the junk stock bulbs).

 

A 4xT5 DIY in a canopy would work great.

You'd still have plenty of light for LPS and some SPS depending on placement.

On a 20, maybe a gu10 fixture. 20H are perfect for them because of the concentrations of bulbs.

ai nano's are not worth the money. i dont even know whats the fuss is all about fiy. they dont even have any other spectrum color besides white and blues. go with t5 or diy!

Diy is a really good option, they also come in amber, orange, 2 shades of red, 2 shades of blue, 2 shades of white, green, cyan, etc.

as far as heat, cost, bulb replacement goes, you cant compare LEDs and MH/t5....

 

the nano is sweet... especially with the new controller coming!
