jprime84
Current FTS: Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr I've been hanging out at reefcentral working on my 75g reef at home. I have had this Nuvo Pico 4g tank at work with neon tetras for a while, but the tetras kept swimming into the filtration area in the back. So I caught them, fed them to my Oscar at home, and then started this tank today with rock and sand from my 75g at home. Very sturdy. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Top down, the light has three 1W 14,000K LEDs and two 0.5W 456K LEDs. I am hoping that it can support low light corals. Innovative Marine claims it can. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Here is the back. Overflow chamber with LR rubble from my 75g on the right. I will probably add more. Bubble trap with the heater in the middle. Return pump on the right. I might try to find a stronger return pump that still fits in there for more water movement. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Link to comment
JR!
looks awesome whats the stocking plans? Link to comment
jprime84
I'm gonna try zoas and mushrooms at first. Gonna get some nassarius, ceriths, and a blue leg hermit from my 75g. Might do a yellow clown goby. Link to comment
jprime84
clown goby Yeah I've never had one but I think it would work. What low light corals would work in here for him to hang out on? The flow in the tank is pretty low. The return pump is rated at 65gph max. Should I get faster pump? Link to comment
JR!
ive seen them chill on mushrooms and zoas before. seems to me that they will host pretty much anything. Link to comment
jprime84
Where can I learn about sexy shrimp? Edit: found the thread in the invert section. Might try some of them. Link to comment
jprime84
Love the rock Thanks! The rock is from http://www.marcorocks.com/. Great place to buy dry rock. It shipped the day I ordered it, and got here fast, well packaged, and at a good price. Is very easy to sit frags in the rock without using glue or anything. I just used one piece from the 50lbs I bought for my 75g. The 75g has only been running for a little over a week, but I started it with the inhabitants and about 30 lbs of year old live rock from my 20g. Here is a FTS of the 75g with the rock. got the 75g running by jprime84, on Flickr Link to comment
jprime84
Here's the man of the hour! I'm slightly concerned that he seemed uninterested in the flake food I fed to the tank, but it is his first day in it. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr More pics in the tank thread. Link to comment
jprime84
The goby didn't survive the weekend. I don't know if it gets too hot in the building, or if he had some other problem related to him not eating all last week. All of my inverts and the zoas survived, so who knows. Not going to try again with a fish for a while. It's hard to keep this thing stable. I got rid of the included pump, which is rated for about 65gph and reached it with a Hydor Pico Evo-Mag pump rated for up to 180gph? I know I'm losing some flow with headless as the pumps max headless height is like 15 inches, maybe less. There's just not room in the tank for much. Link to comment
Newlinta
Sorry about the goby! Tank looks great, though!! Link to comment
jprime84
Wasn't satisfied with the flow, so I put the stock pump back in as the turn pump and just put the Hydor Pico into the tank. It's the smallest power head I've ever seen but it looks so huge in the tank. That's okay though, because once the two of them were both running, all kinds of detritus and crap were kicked up that had been settling before. I need to come up with a teeny tiny protein skimmer. jprime84
Decided to try a fish again. This time I went with a young 4 stripe damsel. I'm aware this fish will grow too large for the tank, but when the time comes he will either move to my 75g at home, or return to the LFS. FTS: Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr He's the perfect size now. He is constantly zipping around the tank, and attacks food ferociously. He adds a lively element to the tank that was previously missing. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Pic of the zoa colony. It has responded very well to the stock LED lighting. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr I also added a bag of Purigen to the back of the tank for added filtration, and have been doing weekly 35% water changes. Link to comment
jprime84
New FTS Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr I fragged my first corals yesterday. I fragged some zoas, a mushroom, and a finger leather coral from my display tank. I guess it's time to wait and see if any of it made it. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Link to comment
jprime84
New FTS - most of my frags made it. Lately the toadstool is actually opening some. Untitled by jprime84, on Flickr Link to comment

lgreen
Pictures didn't work. I was thinking about buying one of these light fixtures, so it's good to see your soft corals are happy. Any plans to give an lps a try? Link to comment
