tam
24-105mm f/4L IS USM or 50mm f/2.5 macro + 85mm f/1.8 + 35mm f/2?. I like the convenience of zoom and it's L glass but I can probably pick up the macro and prime lenses for close to the same price of the 24-105. Advice me, photo nerds!. Link to comment
andykee
The 24-105 is certainly more versatile. That 85 is going to be pretty long on your 1.3x sensor. What other lenses do you already have? Link to comment
andykee
yeah, definitely go with the 24-105 then, imo. Link to comment
05XRunner
24-70L..when i had my 1DII and 1DIII that is the lens that lived on it 90% of the time. 24-105 gives little more reach but I can say the 24-70 on that 1.3x crop is just perfect. I guess if you dont want to spend as much you could grab a 24-105 give you a little more reach but its f4. The older bodies I would want faster glass if I could. the high ISO on them cant compare to the new generation bodies ability for clean high ISO Link to comment
tam
24-70 is ridiculously expensive now with the new (and more expensive) one due out. Going macro + non-L primes is more affordable because I can pick it up piece by piece, the 24-105 is ok-ish at around $800, but the $12-$1400 for the 24-70. Holy balls man. Link to comment
05XRunner
They have gone up in price. but a 24-105 is like 1200 new and they are going for like 900 used..I see 24-70L going for 1100 all the time used if you want another option I use to have the Tamron 28-75 2.8 and it was a great lens. great colors. sharp wide open and can be had for around 300-400 used.
