Upgrade Lighting on 29 Gallon!

I have a 29 Gallon tank with 2 55w PC lights. I want to switch to a MH setup and I want to know if a 400W XM is to much for the tank? Would that just be to much light for a 29 gallon. The reason why I ask about a 400w is because I can borrow a 400w icecap ballast that is 400w from a friend.

If it is to much lighting I think I will just go with a 175W MH.

What about color temp? Are the 20ks to blue for viewing the tank?

Are you planning to hang it in a pendant or in a canopy?

One regret I have in my 29g is buying a 400w. It produces so much heat that I had to buy a chiller. If I were to do it over again I would get a 250w MH with 20k bulb. That is enough to keep anything in your tank.

I second the 250W 20K Radium.......it is like $329 complete with ballast, reef optix II pendant, and bulb from reefgeek.com

No actinic needed and the tank will look great!
