chrizg
I have a 29 Gallon tank with 2 55w PC lights. I want to switch to a MH setup and I want to know if a 400W XM is to much for the tank? Would that just be to much light for a 29 gallon. The reason why I ask about a 400w is because I can borrow a 400w icecap ballast that is 400w from a friend. If it is to much lighting I think I will just go with a 175W MH. What about color temp? Are the 20ks to blue for viewing the tank? Link to comment
ssaldana
Are you planning to hang it in a pendant or in a canopy? One regret I have in my 29g is buying a 400w. It produces so much heat that I had to buy a chiller. If I were to do it over again I would get a 250w MH with 20k bulb. That is enough to keep anything in your tank. Link to comment
onthefly
I second the 250W 20K Radium.......it is like $329 complete with ballast, reef optix II pendant, and bulb from reefgeek.com No actinic needed and the tank will look great! Link to comment
zzpw3x
Or $164 here- http://oceanencounter.com/Merchant2...gory_Code=EVCEB I just bought it and it arrived today. I just realized that the reflector is wider than my tank, so I have to decide how to fix that. I just posted my problem in another thread here - http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread...&threadid=30291 Dale Link to comment
joec
Will I have a heat issue if the light is 16" above the water inside a canopy and there will be a fan on each side of the canopy ? Link to comment
