Detritus07
Hey. Need to frag my giant idaho grape monti that's shadowing 80% of my tank. Pieces break off like delicate chalk, but I want a controlled break. My question is should/could I just use a steak knife to saw the pieces? If so, do I cut from the underside or top? I can't use my dremel because it's encrusted on the rock underwater. Also, if you're in North Jersey (essex county to be specific) I'll most likely have some extra for free or for some frags if you're feeling generous and want to meet somewhere. Don't ask me to ship. Not for sale. Link to comment
sdoubtit8
If it really breaks off that easy, why not just break big pieces off? And pull the small stuff out that falls to the sand.. Link to comment
Detritus07
Because there are some sweet swirls I want to keep intact. The rest I'll just break off. Link to comment
Pickle010
I don't think cutting it with a steak knife would do it. You'd need a band saw or something that would give you a nice smooth cut to get what you want. Even then you run a chance of shattering the coral. They are just really brittle. Otherwise you'd need to try to carefully break what you want off. Link to comment
