My first 10 gal. tank build completed today

Took alot longer than I thought, but turned out pretty well. I used veneered oak, mitered the corners and routed the wood for the base. I'll probably install the PCs and fan next weekend and stain it the following weekend.

Question - should I use a bead of silicone around the bottom edge of the tank (where the glass meets the wood) to keep water out? I'm thinking so, but wanted other opinions. There's about a quarter-inch gap between.

makes me wanna pull my 10 outta storage and do something with it. Nice lookin woodwork. As for the bead of silicon... might not be a bad idea, but I would drill a hole or two in the wood just so that it's not a sealed/enclosed space. I could picture water condensing in there or something.

Love to see more pics as you set it up.

Hats off the the AHSupply.com folks - I installed their PC kit (2 x 36W) in about 20 minutes tonight. Plugged them in (smoke test), ran away, but no smoke. More pictures at:

I'll stain the wood & install a small fan tomorrow. Can I get some opinions on where to order the best live rock? My LFS's stuff sucks.

:x
