GiantBen
Thanks guys. I have a Mr Coral order coming in soon, so I'll have about 17 frags to place. After that, I think I'll try and resist buying anything else and just try and encourage as much growth as possible. Also picking up a pair of anthias from a local guy tomorrow. Looking forward to that. I'll get a good pick of the sump when I get home. I recently replumbed it so that my QuietOne 4000 is driving the display and my BRS dual reactor. I lie actually. I'll be trying to get a couple chalice frags (some locals have some nice ones) then I'll be done....until I'm not... Link to comment

I'm also expecting two more K nano 425s next week, and some new Coral+ bulbs. I'll work on some new pics. Been crazy busy lately. Link to comment

GiantBen
Whatcha getting from Mr Coral ? Bunch $10 frags. Lotta SPS. Some scans and zoas. I think I got 13 frags, which comes with 4 freebies. Probably have 3 scans, 3 zoas, 7 SPS and 5 freebies. I've ordered from him in the past. The stuff is small, but I'd rather place it and let it grow in anyway. Link to comment
Daveg99
cool tank. I love the dimensions and the light fixture. What made you go with that bulb combination? Link to comment
GiantBen
Here are some sump pics. The chaeto was absolutely withering under the all blue par30 lamp, so I have a regular CFL light bulb under there now. I am thinking of getting another light clamp for the par30 and keeping my frag rack down here, but we will see. I'm currently worried that the LR in chamber two isn't getting enough flow and won't be supported by the CFL bulb. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics. I need to learn how to use the DSLR I got from gmod. We are actually having one of the better photographers in the local club give a crash course next satirday, which will be nice. Link to comment
Lawnman
I like the deminsions of that tank. That is a nice cam Gmod sold you. Is that a bubble magnus? How you like it? Do you mix your carbon and GFO in 1 reactor? Link to comment
GiantBen
Yeah, the camera looks nice. I just have to figure the whole white balance thing out. I do like the bubble magus, but it is my first skimmer so hard to compare. The impeller that it came with was shot, but since I got it third party (classifieds here), over a year ago, I had to buy a new one. Working MUCH quieter and skimming pretty well. It's a NAC6, rated for a 120 or 150, I think. I'm still running the dual BRS reactor. it is hanging under the electrical, next to the sump. Here's a shot. The ATO pump has run dry, need to refill.... GiantBen
Couple other items: The 6025s didn't work out, so I'm just going with two more evo 425s Also, I wanted some moonlights without modifying my fixture, so I used some square plastic tubing and square plastic corner to rig up a hanger for some of the small moonligt strips (oceanic I think). I've got three of the little three-light units. I put some holes in the corner piece and hung it from the light fixture cables. Sounds janky, but it work great and can't bee seen except from the side. Link to comment
Lawnman
I think you said you run gfo and carbon? Does it matter which one goes in which canister? Are you running a MJ 1200 for the dual reactor? Do you see any clogging in the reactor? Sorry for all the questions reactors are new to me. Needing to get one pretty soon so who better to ask then big Ben. Link to comment
GiantBen
I run both. The BRS dual reactor is labeled. GFO In first chamber, Carbon in second. I had an MJ1200 and it was loud as ####. My return pump is way overpowered for me drain (QuietOne 4000), so I just teed it off and run the return and reactor from that. There is a picture of the plumbing in my sump shots. I am not getting a lot of tumble, but I need to dial it in. I can crank up the pump and use two ball values to regulate the flow. IMO the mj1200 is kinda crappy. I've had a couple and they are loud, plus there is very little tumble in the first chamber with it. I also can't sand the fact that to remove the impeller cover, you turn it a little, but it pops off easily. It should have to be almost totally turned over to come off. Hope that helps Link to comment
kevlow
Hey Ben, I have nearly the same set up. 48x 24 x8" shallow with 48" Tek 6 bulb. I am struggling with a few things. How high off your waterline is the bottom of your fixture?? Also, is lighting needed in the sump for bacterial growth on the LR or just to support the Chaeto?? Thanks and following along.
