lljdma06
Hi, When I got my Halimeda opuntia, it came with a very small fragment of Caulerpa prolifera. It's grown and it is a stunning little macro. Was wondering if it would be a horrible thing to add it to my Caribbean biotope. It is native and extremely pretty, but I'm a little leery as I've heard horror stories about it going sexual and stunting coral growth. I've read some on it and as I prune my halimeda to keep it in check, so would I prune this macro as well. I'm just weighing in my options. I don't really want it in my 8g fuge anymore. That's for chaeto. L Link to comment
JoelRHale
IME, I have had a sizable portion in my 40b for about 4 months now with no problems. Link to comment
Formula462
keep it pruned a little, keep it cool, and it usually won't do the whole spawn/bloom mess. i like it ok. Link to comment
lljdma06
Ok, this tank is unheated, so that may be good for this time of the year and I live in Miami, so it never gets super cold and the AC never lets anything get super hot. I just feel that I'm not doing it justice in my fuge. I've read about some Caulipera species stunting corals, but I think that only happens when it gets overrun. L Link to comment
