Harmless Snail or Whelk?

I found this guy on some live rock I added to my setup a few days ago. Got a few pictures, then put him back in the tank before I did any research. Now I'm thinking it might be a whelk, so putting him back was probably a mistake. Super tiny, probably 1/8" long or so. Purple shell, bright green foot. Can anyone ID?

It looks like a nassarius to me. I've had a few with that same shell pattern and color.

Seems the shell tapers a bit towards the front. If it does, than it can't be a nassarius species.
