Heat during tank cycle?

I'm cycling a nano currently without a heater - the 2 13watt PCs I have under the tank hood keep the water temperature around a balmy 80~ degrees. :D

I'd recommend that you should start checking (and logging) the water temperature during the mornings, afternoons, and evenings for the first couple of days. If it gets below the temperature of 75-76 degrees, just throw in a heater. Also, don't forget to factor in your lighting and what they'll do to your water temp. HTH.

If the tank water stays above 70 degrees, you'll be fine not having a heater during the cure. Run heavy skimming and calcium additives and limit your light (as in, no light) until after the cure is complete.

If the water is going to dip below 70 and the reef rock came from a tropical source, i'd use a heater. 5 watts per gallon should be adequate.
