tarantulaman
I plan on changing 2 gallons of water once a week in my 12 gallon tank . With this amount would i still have to test and dose calcium ? With the water change wont this add everything back to the tank ? Link to comment
Reefmaniac
Probably more than you need to change on a weekly basis. I would drop back to 1g per week unless you are having water quality problems. As for dosing calcium, this will depend on a couple of factors: Bio load/calcium uptake in the tank and your salt. A heavy load will probably require additional calcium. If you are using Instant Ocean (or some other salt that was only intended for "fish only" tanks) you will definitely have to dose additional calcium. Link to comment
tarantulaman
Can you reccomend a better salt to use ? I have been using instant salt Link to comment
Korbin
The company that makes instant ocean also makes Reef Crystals which is more expensive, but contains more calcium. You should still test it at least a couple times to make sure your WCs are keeping up with the demand. Never hurts to test. Link to comment
