mogurnda
they look like a seperate tank connected to the main tank Well, that's pretty much what they are. They serve a few purposes. 1. They give worms and small arthropods a place to reproduce without predation. 2. They provide a place to grow macroalgae. a. Macroalgae growth will help export nutrients (the exact magnitude was recently hotly debated). b. If the fuge is on a reverse light cycle, the photosynthesis helps keep pH up during the night.
