vancouver_newb
Hey everyone, I've searched the forums and have read that copepods reproduce very quickly. My question is, how quickly, and how large of a population is required for them to reproduce successfully? The reason I ask is because I feel that I'm siphoning/removing a large number of pods with every weekly water change. And having read in previous posts that these guys are beneficial to any SW tank, I'd like to keep their numbers as high as possible. What do you guys think? Oh, and BTW, here are some of my specs just FYI: 10 gallon tank 10 lbs LR uncured & in 2nd week of cycle no skimmer or other filters Thanks, vancouver_newb Link to comment
Perpetual98
From what I've heard, you can never have too many pods in your tank, provided you don't have any parasitic ones. Link to comment
Optimum
It could take a month or two to really see if the population is growing. They will reproduce even without a sand bed, as long as u have no predators that eat them. Link to comment
trmiv
Don't worry, they will start reproducing. And with no fish that eat them, before you know it your tank rocks and glass will be covered by them. I have no natural predators for amphipods in my tank, and I have TONS of them. My clown will only eat them if they somehow get into open water. Link to comment
