Steve973
Hello. I have a couple of things for identification, if any of you could lend a hand. The first is two shots of some colonies of "scale-like" things. They flouresce blue and/or green, and they are immobile and pretty soft, and they will give when touched. The second is a bright green, segmented thing that doesn't move either. You can't see the segments in the picture because I had trouble focusing. jmt has posted the pictures in the following post. cerickson
The first two are the same. I have a whole bunch of it in my tank. It is a nice looking addition and will grow rapidly, and so far it hasn't been a nuisance. If it does it is pretty easy to trim. Brown Wafer Algae (Lobophora variegata) Link to comment
cerickson
Is the second one on the glass or the rock behind it? Link to comment
Steve973
it's on the rock, pointing more-or-less straight up. I'm not certain whether or not it's hard or soft. Link to comment
Steve973
I looked at the pictures of the brown wafer algae, and mine don't resemble those very closely, but that might be because they are small. I'm not sure... Link to comment
cerickson
Yea i'm sure it is the brown wafer algae, the pic on the site i gave you is a developed growth. I have the exact same stuff as you in my tank, and that is exactly how it looks at first Link to comment
cerickson
Judging by the general shape and colour, it looks to be Halimeda Macroalgae (Halimeda opuntia) Link to comment
Steve973
#3 is neomeris annulata, according to dr. ron on rc. Link to comment
Hgarner
I've got one just in front of my clam--it is basically harmless, and I think very pretty. Link to comment
