Royal Robin
Well, the title pretty much explains its self. I'm going to be purchacing a Nano Cube soon and I'd like to add a mini moonlight system using a single or three blue LED's on top. Can someone please tell me exactly what to buy? I am very bad at electronics and am not sure what type of resistors to use and such to hook up the LED's. I know this is a steep request, but would appreciate it very much. I've got the day off tomorrow so I figure I'll go shopping hehe. Link to comment
MarineSnow
Hey man, I bought a pre-wired "Moon-Lite" for my NanoCube and it works/looks great. Just screw it to the lid and plug it in....no electronic knowledge needed. Hope that helps. Link to comment
dagermain
MarineSnow, where did you get it? Link to comment
MarineSnow
I've seen 'em advertised on line at several sites, but I got mine at the LFS. Link to comment
Rikko
If you're even remotely handy (although I suppose even the ability to cut a piece of tape would suffice, but that's getting a little slack), you can build one extremely cheap. Here's some basic descriptions and pics: http://www.plantedtank.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5919 Also: http://www.plantedtank.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6636 I ordered my LEDs off ebay.. $8.50US including shipping for 50 of them. For an extra $0.01 they included the resistor I need - so total cost was 9 bucks for 50 LEDs and 50 resistors. Last step is to pick up a 12V adapter (apparently dollar stores carry them, but mine sure don't). Hook it up like the threads show and you're pretty much done. Final step is just to put it into a proper housing and protect the wiring from getting soaked. Link to comment
