hello,

i saw some aqua clear 200 and 300 for sale on petsmart.com and they look like a good buy. but someone has a aqua clear 500 they are selling for 25.00 which i think is pretty good as well. as they are 59.00 at my lfs.

but my question is, is the 500 too much for the jbj nano cube for a refugium?

also would you go for a 200 - 300 - or 500?

also the 500 is about 13.5 inches, if i used the 200 or 300 i would still have to cut into the hood of the nano cube. if i used the 500 the hinges my get in the way.

what about having an in tank one. if i had a box small enough to fit in the back and drilled a series of small holes, and had it lit, would that be ok?

i'm not familiar with the aqua clear models, but the cube isn't much more than 13.5 inches long in itself, so i would be hesitant to use the 500. I think having an in tank one is a good idea, if you take out the dividers in back you can probably fit a decent size one in there. Lots of people just take out the dividers and use that whole space as a refugium, just a heater, some LR rubble, and some macro. As long as it's lit it will be fine...
